iGram Story Saver: How to Download Instagram Stories
Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours. If someone posts a recipe, a travel recommendation, an announcement, or a tutorial as a Story, you have a small window to see it before it vanishes. The iGram Story Saver lets you download those Stories to your device before the timer runs out.
This guide covers everything you need to know about using iGram to save Instagram Stories: how it works, what you can download, step-by-step instructions for every device, and answers to common questions about Story downloading.
Why Instagram Stories Disappear
Instagram introduced Stories in 2016 as ephemeral content that automatically deletes after 24 hours. The format was designed for casual, in-the-moment sharing — the kind of content people would not post permanently to their feed. Stories now account for a significant portion of Instagram engagement, with over 500 million users viewing or posting Stories daily.
The 24-hour limit creates a problem when you encounter a Story you want to reference later. Maybe it is a product recommendation from someone you trust, event details you need to check later, or creative inspiration you want to save. Instagram's built-in Save feature only bookmarks the Story within the app — it does not download the actual file to your device.
What the iGram Story Saver Does
The iGram Story Saver is a free tool on igram.pk that downloads Instagram Story content from public accounts. Here is what it handles:
- Photo Stories: Saved as JPG images in the original resolution Instagram stores
- Video Stories: Saved as MP4 files with the original audio track intact
- Multiple story slides: When a user has posted several story slides, you can download each one individually
- No watermarks: Downloaded files are clean — no iGram branding or watermarks added
- No login required: You do not need to provide your Instagram credentials to use the tool
The tool works with any public Instagram account. It cannot access Stories from private accounts because Instagram's privacy settings restrict that content to approved followers only. For more on this, read our explanation of why private account content is protected.

Stories vs. Highlights: What Is the Difference?
People sometimes confuse Instagram Stories and Story Highlights. Here is the difference:
| Feature | Stories | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | Disappear after 24 hours | Permanent until removed by user |
| Location | Story bar at top of feed | Circles on the profile page |
| Viewer list | Creator can see who viewed | No viewer list after 24 hours |
| iGram tool | Story Saver | Highlights Downloader |
If the content you want is already saved as a Highlight on someone's profile, you have more time — Highlights do not expire. Use the Highlights Downloader for those. For more about saving Stories before they expire, read our guide on saving Instagram Stories before expiration.
Can You View Stories Anonymously?
Yes. When you download a Story through the iGram Story Saver, the account owner does not receive any notification, and your name does not appear in their viewer list. This is because iGram's server requests the content directly from Instagram, rather than viewing it through your personal Instagram account.
This makes the iGram Story Saver useful if you want to check someone's Stories without them knowing — for example, checking a competitor's promotions if you run a business, or viewing content from an account you do not want to interact with directly.

What About Story Stickers, Polls, and Links?
Instagram Stories often include interactive elements like polls, question boxes, countdown timers, music stickers, and link stickers. Here is how these work with downloads:
- Visual stickers (text overlays, GIFs, location tags): These are baked into the image or video file by Instagram's servers, so they appear in the downloaded file exactly as they appear in the Story
- Interactive elements (polls, questions, quizzes, sliders): The visual representation is included in the download, but the interactive functionality is not — you cannot vote on a poll in a downloaded file
- Music stickers: For video Stories, the audio track (including the music) is included in the MP4 download. For photo Stories with music, the music is not included since the downloaded file is a static image
- Link stickers: The visual appearance of the link sticker is in the downloaded file, but it is not clickable since it is an image or video file, not a web page
Common Use Cases
Here are some of the most common reasons people use the iGram Story Saver:
- Saving recipes and tutorials: Many food bloggers and creators share quick recipes as Stories that disappear in 24 hours
- Archiving event information: Event details, schedules, and announcements shared as Stories
- Competitive research: Business owners tracking competitor promotions, pricing, or product launches
- Content inspiration: Saving creative Story formats, design ideas, or caption styles for reference
- Personal archiving: Saving your own Stories in case you want to reuse or repurpose the content later
- Saving recommendations: Travel tips, book recommendations, product reviews shared by accounts you follow
Troubleshooting
- Story not found: The Story may have already expired (past the 24-hour window) or the account may have deleted it. Stories cannot be recovered once expired.
- Account is private: iGram can only download Stories from public accounts. If the account recently switched to private, previously public Stories are no longer accessible.
- No stories available: The account may not have any active Stories at the moment. Stories are only available for 24 hours after posting.
- Video not playing: Make sure your device has a video player that supports MP4 files. Most modern phones and computers handle this natively.
- File not in Gallery (Android): Sometimes Android takes a moment to index new files. Try restarting your Gallery app or checking the Downloads folder directly.
